Hello there, Mama to be!
Here is the part where I’m supposed to generically tell you how passionate I am about photography and describe myself perfectly so you fall in love with me. Honestly, I hate talking about myself and when we first meet you’ll see that I’m a socially awkward introvert who is terrible at small talk. I don’t want you to hire me for meaningless reasons--I want you to hire me because we connect on a deeper level and you love my passion & perspective on childbirth.
Three weeks after vacationing in Arizona with my husband I woke up feeling really off. I took a pregnancy test and when that faint little pink line started to appear I lost it. I cried, sweat an awful lot, and called my Mama. She comforted me like only a Mama can. I’m a firm believer that knowledge is power so I began researching birth options--I dug deep. We met with a local birth center and fast-forward 36 weeks later and the birth plan we so carefully planned was out the window.
The day our daughter made her way in to this world was the most intense & transformative experience of my life. Labor, delivery, PPD, & motherhood in general chewed me up and spit me out. That is the best way I can describe it. After a couple years passed I had enough time to reflect on the experience and a few things become quite clear. In that labor & delivery room I emerged a mother-- I’m stronger than I ever thought possible and out of darkness came light. Sweet, beautiful, radiant light! This is when I decided to shift the direction of my photography business to specialize in documenting birth stories.
I want to be your photographer because you trust me. The kind of unwavering trust that you put in choosing your midwife, OB, and doula. The kind of trust that says you need me there supporting you on the most important day of your life. Choose me because of the work I do and because you want to see your birth story through my eyes.
And if you’re still curious after reading all this…
My name is Lindsey. I’m the woman (wife & mother) behind Born Photography in Salt Lake City, Utah. I’m originally from Texas and say things like “y’all” & “fixin’ to”, minus the Southern accent. I rarely wear make-up and could spend hours sipping a chai latte lost in meaningful thought or conversation. I’m a free-thinking feminist who supports equality for all and could talk about birth all day long.
My goal is simple: To empower & support you on your birth day. To provide a series of beautiful images that tell the story of the day you transformed in to a mother. You are more beautiful than you know and it would be an honor to support you & your partner on your special day.
