Just Born Session FAQ
+ What other types of photography sessions do you offer?
Check out all the details for my motherhood, birth, & newborn sessions here.
+ What happens if you are at a birth on the day of our session?
This most certainly could happen, although it's not often it does. If we find ourselves in this situation I will let you know as soon as I’m able and will do my best to accommodate rescheduling you session within 48 hours.
+ Is my session fee refundable if there are complications with baby's birth that prevent the Just Born session from happening within 48 hours?
I like handling situations like this on a case-by-case basis because every circumstance is different. Please know my ultimate goal is always focuses around your satisfaction.
+ How far do you travel?
I am available to travel within 15 miles of zip code 84108. An additional travel fee of $75 applies to locations 15-30 milles from 84108.
+ What is a Just Born session and how long does it last?
This can vary, Just Born sessions last about two hours--give or take depending on the situation. Just Born sessions take place within a week of baby's birth. These sessions are scheduled between the hours of 9a to 5p and include the precious interactions between you, your partner, and your family following baby’s birth.
Just Born sessions are a great alternative to birth photography without the extra expense and pressure of having me there during the birth. Plus, you get to rest and clean up a little before the session. Sessions are casual, unposed, with a fly on the wall approach.
+ Why are flowers included in my session?
I like to change things up a bit to make our time together a little more special. The fresh flowers can be displayed around your baby or can be used in an herbal sitz bath with you and your baby. Ask your Midwife, Doula, or Birth Center if they plan to provide you with an herbal sitz bath. We'll spend no more than 30 minutes photographing this portion of your session.
+ Where does a Just Born session take place?
The location depends on where you give birth. If you give birth at home then your session takes place in your home. If you birth at a birth center you'll likely be home within a day so the session can take place at your birth center or at your home if you've been discharged. If baby arrives at the hospital then your Just Born session takes place in your recovery suite.
+ How do I dress for a Just Born session?
Just Born sessions are very casual. Wear what you feel most comfortable in. As far as hair and make-up go, it's totally up to you. I recommend something that is easy to pull down or open up (robes) as baby will likely nurse at some point in the session. I recommend avoiding logos as they can detract from the moment being photographed. Solid colors and patterns lend a cleaner and more timeless look to your images. Neutrals tend to work best and blend nicely with any environment.
+ When do I book my Just Born session?
I recommend booking your session in advance, the sooner the better. Sessions may also be booked after baby is born, if I have availability. Let me know right away when your baby is born and we will secure the exact time of your session.
+ When is my payment due?
A 30% non-refundable retainer fee is due upon signing your contract. All balances are due by your 36th week of pregnancy. All major forms of payment are accepted.
+ How long until we receive our images?
Your images will be ready within 4-6 weeks from the session date. I'll notify you when your private online gallery is ready. Once ready, you'll be able to download all of your images, share them with friends and family if you wish, or keep them exclusively for yourself.
